Contest Brief
About the marketing campaign:
*Student halls- definition: These are purpose built student accommodation in the UK. They are similar to hotels except are long term stays only and for students only.
www.Hallbookers.co.uk is a new start up launching in January that allows students to compare and review student halls in the UK. Hallbookers.co.uk wants its 70 or so different student halls to have reviews written about them by students. Hallbooker’s marketing team have arranged for a marketing team to put up posters in universities and student halls. There are also plans for flyers to be placed as junk mail in mail boxes of students who are staying at student halls. So for this to happen we need one design that is compatible for a flyer A5 size and poster A3 size.
The aim of this marketing campaign is to
1) Entice students to leave reviews with the competition (read below for details of the competition).
2) Encourage students to help other students by leaving a review of student halls they have stayed at.
3) Raise awareness of the new start up- building a brand.
The main goal is to get students to actually leave reviews on the site due to seeing this flyer/poster.
The design must be eye catching to a student; it must catch their attention within two seconds. The environment in which the flyer/poster will be presented will be very competitive. In universities there will be a lot of other posters up and in mail boxes there will be a lot of other junk mail too.
Hallbookers.co.uk have a competition that is targeted towards students. By a student leaving a review their email is automatically entered into the draw to win one of two MacBook Pros Retina 15”. This is the most important factor to raise awareness about because it is the most likely reason a student will leave a review. See www.hallbookers.co.uk for info about the competition. Although the quality of the advert on the website is not very high we do expect this design to be much better.
The second reasons students will leave a review is some of them may actually want to leave a review to help other students. That’s why it’s important to stress the fact that by leaving a review students will be helping other students.
Although this job is a design job there are a lot of sales and marketing aspects as well. Please make sure that the design STANDS OUT. We recommend you use colours as students like colours. Please note that the logo must remain the same colour and design.
We would recommend you have something that really stands out such as a MacBook Pro photograph or a massive “WIN!!” or pretty and very happy students.
We also use the font arista which would be a bonus to use this as well – not essential.
Please include a “see website T&Cs for competition details” in very small text.
If you feel like being creative and doing something you believe is better and not what we recommended please do not hesitate. We will consider all entries.
The design is to be single sided only. Please find attached a file with the logo.
So in short: Must grab the attention of the student; explain the competition and how leaving a review can help other students. Briefly explain how to leave a review and then explain a bit about the benefits of hallbookers in smaller text and smoothly point them in the direction of hallbookers.co.uk.
The two texts below should be included somewhere on the page.
How to review:
1. Go to www.hallbookers.co.uk
2. Search your student halls
3. Leave a short review
