Revised version, more detail on the two scales
I had an idea with a way to give the scales some more definition, as they'd typically raise to a point in the middle, why not use a sword, I thought! Lends further to the fantasy element. What do you think?

If you wanted to limit colour usage as well we can remove the grey and keep it as white
