Katila Vilar (nationality: Angolan + Portuguese) was born in Luanda | Angola, 1977, where she lived until 1992. On this date, she arrived in Lisbon (PT), and finalizes the Lycée Français Charles Le Pierre with a Baccalaureate en Lettres.
Therefore, she is fluent (bilingual) in French too.
She has a degree in Global Design from IADE (Lisbon), and she also holds a Master Degree in Product and Space Design (2008-2009), with the project thesis "Ecovillage in Ngola lands, a sustainable of rural-architecture model for emerging countries".
This work led to the opportunity to join the Urban Planning Team at Costa Lopes Arquitectos between Luanda and Lisbon (2008-2013) and be allocated mainly to social projects.
Between 2013-2017, she undertakes a phD degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Bio Bio in Concepción, Chile (2013-2017), which is recognised in the EU, by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2019).
The research consisted of analysing the "Social Sustainability of Spontaneous Settlements", or how the urban design in low-income communities developed with participatory processes can foster social capital.
Back in Portugal, her professional career is varied: still, in the Planning area, she worked as a Project Manager of an area of 44ha to receive around 35,000 people, within the scope of a biennial event of independent culture (2018) or provided architectural services and event planning and management to another similar organisation (2019).
She has also worked in some multinationals such as Fujitsu or Solvay, mainly in providing customer services in different languages such as French (bilingual) and English, in Information Technologies, Human Resources, or Cash Collections.
