HeedYou.com was initially started as clicks-fx.com in 2012 and was based on a GPTEngine engine that I've customized. It is a website review and micro-task platform that connects young businesses with users to complete small, fast and commoditized tasks. It didn't achieve any significant success at this stage. So, in late 2013, I've decided to scrap the licensed engine that severely limited my possibilities to expand and rebuild it myself, from scratch. This was a monumental work that took over a year to complete. I've used PHP language and MySQL database (LAMP stack) to build it. I was able to implement all ideas that I wanted to implement, created an attractive affiliate program and, as a result, soon after the launch it took off. Number of active users has jumped over 20 times in just a few months and, for a while, it was a profitable business.

After completing an in-depth course and training on GDPR and making my own projects compliant, I've realized just how serious it is. So, I've decided to create a service that allows any website owner to quickly and easily opt out of the EU. Service works by linking a Ban EU Users JS script that changes its contents based on user's location detected by IP. If a user is from EU, the content is a script that redirects them to a page explaining that the website has banned all EU visitors. To accomplish this, I've used an IP ranges data, that I've imported into a MySQL database, and built a Node.js backend. The script has to be loaded very frequently, since it has to be included on every page of the website that wants to block EU users. In order to achieve high performance needed to handle this serious traffic, the backend, upon initialization, loads the entire table into the cache.

Time and Mood is an alternative player for YouTube and podcasts that I've created. The idea came to me after struggling to keep up with my YouTube subscriptions as a busy person. I was annoyed that in order to not miss any interesting video, I had to scroll all the way down to the last video I watched. Additionally, the next video in line was often too long. I have also tried adding all my subscriptions to playlists like "Watch Later", but it was too much work. I've got inspired by the way Netflix works - instead of feed it shows you the oldest unwatched episode from each show. I've expanded on my idea, added a few nice features to my plans, and got to work. I've used Node.js for a backend, React as a frontend, and MySQL as a database engine. In order to access YouTube, I have used the Google Oauth and YouTube Data APIs. Google Oauth protocol is not just used to get user permissions, it is also a way to login into a platform.
