Sandeep Bhalothia has been working in UAE since 2018, most recently as Head of Legal Affairs with a technology company in DMCC. Before current role, he worked as an In-House lawyer with a chartering and aviation trip support company (United Aviation Services - UAS) advising in drafting, compliance and commercial matters.
Before joining UAS as In-house Lawyer, he had one and half year's worth of work experience through internships with top-tiered Indian and Chinese arbitration and corporate law firms, boutique IPR and arbitration firms and in-house. He has also worked with World Health Organizations' (WHO) Legal Development Prog as a Legal Researcher for a year and currently, is a Fellow of Law and Policy at Kleros.
Sandeep is common law registered, first-generation lawyer and graduated with First-Class Honours degree (2:1 Equivalent) with a focus on domestic and international arbitration, commercial contract drafting and technology law.
On graduation, he was awarded the 'Distinguished Alumni' award for academic and extra-curricular activities out of thousands of students.
He is a Member (MCIArb) at Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb, U.K.) and had served as Dispute Resolution Panelist at FICM-MCN (India and UAE) and was recently selected for Arbitration Tribunal Secretary Training Prog, offered by HKIAC. He is also an SCMA Accredited Mediation Advocate.
He attended Tsinghua University (China) as Semester Exchange Students to study international arbitration and took LLM Level courses - scoring 7.8/8.0 CGPA. He was also selected to attend a fully-funded specialised leadership and entrepreneurship course offered by Harvard Business School in 2017.
He has excellent transferable communication and negotiation, drafting and research skills. Additionally, he has experience of working in India, UAE, and China, and received academic training in both common and civil law jurisdiction (India and China, respectively). He is also the recipient of various scholarships during high school and under-graduation, including a Harvard Scholarship to attend Emerging Leaders Program (2017) in Dubai, which helped him to improve my commercial understanding.
He is qualified to practice law in India as an advocate, in compliance with the Advocates Act, 1961 and the rules made thereunder. He is also a Certified Blockchain and Law Professional (Blockchain Council).
