Physico-chemical parameters analysis of Rainwater collected in three time intervals

This paper compares the rainwater quality of different months of the monsoon period (July, August, and September) in 2015. Physical parameters (pH, EC, TDS), Chemical Parameters (Na+), (K+), (Ca2+), (Mg2+), (HCO3-), (Cl-), (SO42-), (NO3- -N), (PO43-)) were tested. By comparing with WHO and BSTI standards it is found that rainwater can be used for drinking purposes as well as for household works in the dry season in KCC.

ANALYSIS OF HARVESTED RAINWATER USING EARTHEN, PLASTIC AND CONCRETE POT FOR DRINKING PURPOSE

For the harvesting of storage rainwater three types of pots (earthen, plastic, and concrete pot) had been used. Physical and chemical parameters ( Na+, K+, Ca+, Mg2+, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, NO3-, PO43- ) decreased but microbial parameters (E. Coli, fecal coliform, total coliform) increased in stored rainwater day by day. By comparing with WHO and BSTI standards it is found that harvested rainwater can be used for drinking purposes as well as for household works in the dry season in KCC.
