In our business, we transfer discs (miniDiscs, DVDs, etc) to video files. Often these files are in .vob format.
At the moment we use a video converter called Wondershare Ultimate Video Converter to transfer these files, however this process is quite buggy and difficult with a large volume of files. It appears the program has a phase where it builds an 'index' for the file, then transfers it.
Looking for someone to develop a simple program that will take folders containing vob files, transfer them to the desired output format (MPEG-4 format is really only necessary for this). Ideally this program will ingest any files that are transferred into the specified input folder, automatically transfer them to the output format and place them in the specified output directory.
Files are organised as follows:
Folder named after order number e.g. 54123, containing vob files 54123 Disc [login to view URL], 54123 Disc [login to view URL] etc
>>> files rendered to MP4
outputs to folder 54123 with files 54123 Disc [login to view URL], 54123 Disc [login to view URL] etc
Operating System: Windows 10
I suggest using FFMPEG to render the files. Solution needs to handle large quantities of files, so multithreaded application is required, or multiple renders at once to maximise available computing power.
Future work to support different folders containing images etc to come.
Hi there,
I read all your details. Yes sure. This is a perfect task for me. Have all the relevant skills. I've been using FFMPEG since long. I am GUI developer too.
So I'll develop your required software for Windows platform, to transfer your .vob files. I'll add entries/inputs to select input and output directory. Will add dropdown menu to select output format.
Yes it will be multi-threaded setup to maximize CPU usage.
I'll delivering standalone desktop app - only double-click and use.
And yes, I'll be available to add more features too, in future.
Let me know if I'm out of budget, I may make a discount too.
I could be the best candidate! Please reach out to me.
Best regards,
Ishaq
I am not sure how much help it is, but I still do it manually all the time, through DGIndex / Avisynth's QTGMC / ffmpeg. I might prepare a script which work most of the time anyway.
A less step solution might be with MPlayerHQ.
For final storage, MPEG-4 AVC is recommended today (i.e. H.264).
Questions: what are the bugs which you did observe with Wondershare ?
To avoid from them, I might/probably need some of the VOBs during preparation of the script (again, to avoid from those problems).
With 15 years of development experience, window series technologies are familiar. Has been working as a development manager and core developer in Beijing.
I also use ffmpeg in real-time streaming software. I have studied the source code of ffmpeg for several years.
