FEA analysis of a simple tank structure to understand main stress concentration areas.
As can be seen there is easy symmetry on the structure.
We want to establish if the structure is likely to be able support a load of 190 metric tons mass in addition to its own weight (it would be filled with heavy sand at 3500 kg/m3 bulk density). We are not looking for high accuracy but more an order of magnitude assessment of the main limiting stress areas. The analysis should include the footings, assumed to be 1x1 m.
Material of construction is presently not known. The assumption presently is that it is manufactured from ordinary mild steel (350 MPA), 8 mm plate thickness, rubber lined.
An experienced FEA designer would be able to assess which degree of detail needs to be included in the model, such as detail on the stiffening, ribs etc, and we expect that at the required level will need about two hrs of work.
There may be follow-up work on the project.
