We need some hay 3D modeled and textured.

The hay model needs to be modular "tile-able" as they will be placed side by side as per the screenshots.

It will be one model which will be viewed from the front and top. In the front view it needs to appear to have some height and not flat. In both the front and top views we would like to see some straws of hay sticking out of the sides "tuffs of hay, little messy bushes of straw on the edges". See if you can avoid modeling each individual straw of hay on the sides but rather group them in clusters and show the individual strands in the texture. This will require the use of alphas in your textures.

The overall geometry should be really basic but not too minimal as that is one of hte things we did not like with our current model. The main design appeal will be in the texture. Please see the attached images of our existing hay model which we are not happy with. To clarify I'm referring to the hay on the ground, not talking about the bundle / heap of the hay in the background. The hay on the ground currently looks too basic and doesn't actually look like hay.

This projects should only take around 1 - 2 hours to complete and will serve as a good example of your capabilities. I can offer you our intern rates of $10 USD per hour.

Most importantly, the texture size needs to be rather small as it will share an atlas "texture sheet" with all the textures from the main stable. The texture overall total atlas size is 1024 x 1024. You will only be able to use a very small portion of that for the hay. So try take up as little space in that as possible, 1% to 2% of the total texture space. See how little you can get away with. Play with texturing the hay as a whole or creating small clusters of hay that are tiled.

The art style we are looking for is Horse Haven and Star Stable. The textures have a soft painterly feel to them with visible detail.
