Hello, I've solved TSP with an open-source MIP solver. This way you can get an optimal solution or a solution with proven quality (gap). Other approaches are based on heuristics which get some approximate solution. I have the following plan for your project: 1. Discuss the details (1 hour). I already have some questions: - What is the maximum number of operations in a sequence? - How long can you wait for the algorithm to finish? Based on your answers I can assess if an existing solver could be used or some heuristic should be implemented instead. 2. Prepare a set of test cases. TSP of the same size can have very different solution time. - Get sample matrices of distances from you. (0 hours) - If you don't have a method to get "distances" between every two operations, I can write an algorithm to get this matrix from a plan for your machine. (6 hours) 3. Prepare a model in Pyomo or GNU MathProg (2 hours). 4. Test on prepared data and tweak the model if necessary (2 hours). 5. Adapt the algorithm's outputs to your input requirements (1 hour). 6. Prepare a package for installation on your system (2 hours). I can't always work full time now so I wrote delivery in 7 days.
