In our ruby on rails application we enable users to submit multiple types of feedback in a project. We require a developer on an ongoing basis to go through our backlog of visual bugs and continuously deliver fixes.
Our application strives to accept a wide range of browsers. We aim to support IE7+, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and mobile devices such as iPhone/iPad, Android, Blackberry. Our application is developed against Chrome.
We track most visual bugs and inconsistencies in our live application. We also have a QA document that has issues listed by browser.
Visual bugs can be defined as those where an element is there in chrome but is not there or off center in firefox etc. We strive to be visually consistent.
It is fine if some css3 features are not there on older IE. We prefer to not use ie hacks/polyfills. We want to maintain good access to all the features of the application.
Your tasks will include:
- Going through backlog of visual bugs and fixing them to ensure consistency.
- Fixing alignment and element placement issues.
- Fixing odd colours on different browsers.
- Implementing minor css changes.
You must have experience with the following: css3/html5, internet explorer compatibility issues, media queries, sass, Rails folder structure.
Please add a short description of the steps you would take to fix a visual error in a rails application.
