The report consists in the valuation of a stock and an investment recommendation. The focus of the analysis is to evaluate the performance of a company, compare the performance to a set of peers and to estimate the value of the firm’s stock by relative valuation. The report should contain maximum of 2 pages for the write-up and the supporting tables and graphs. The report must be submitted in hard copy, along with a hard copy of your excel work. Your report should contain the following information: • Company name • Ticker symbol • Sector • Recommendation (buy/sell/hold) and its rationale • Current price (as of __date) • Price history • Target price (% increase/decrease) • Financial statements (2 past years and next year pro forma) • Table of comparables and relevant information. As an example, you can use the information under Related Companies on Google Finance, e.g. [login to view URL] The table of comparables should enable the reader of the report to do the relative valuation. For instance, if you use P/E as a multiple, you should report the Market Cap, the estimated Net Income and the P/E of each company. It would be helpful to report the mean or median P/E as well. Find the 4A5 companies that compare best to your target. To complete this table, you may share the next year estimated Sales/Earnings/EBITDA with your teams. The content of the report should support your valuation and recommendation. At a minimum, your write-up should contain the following sections: • Business Description • Industry Overview and Competitive Positioning • Valuation • Any new developments that may influence the valuation Your report will be evaluated on the following criteria: • Rationale of the recommendation: Does the data support the recommendation? Are the different parts of the report consistent with each other? • Valuation: Pro forma financials – assumptions and limitations, choice of comparables and multiples. • Clear, concise and correct writing. If something does not work, you may make some comments on a separate sheet of paper.
