Python Serial Script

I have a RPI and reading a serial input. The reading is usually 1,2,3,4 .But depending on when I start the script, the reading might start from 2,3,4,1,2,3,4 I need you to create a script to split the data accordingly and always know the start variable. After we will use this data in various check methods.
