WarriorFit is an attitude as much as it is an approach to training. Warrior fit includes four distinct domains of Coaching. 1-Rest/Recovery/Stress Reduction 2-Activity/Movement/Exercise 3-Diet/Nutrition/Fuel 4-Attitude/Beliefs/Mindset Rest and Activity are like Yin and Yang, two sides of the same coin. Our central nervous system has two divisions that work together to maintain balance. The Parasympathetic, responsible for "resting and digesting" and the Sympathetic which is for the "flight and fight" response. The Martial Art, Tai Chi tells the student that it is important to know the "Yang" (fight, flight, workout/train hard) but to stick to the "Yin" (rest, digest, recover from stress including exercise) which is how the nervous system should work as well. To much stress is very detrimental to the health of an organism. A proportional balance is required. After activity comes rest, and after rest comes activity. But they do not require equal portions of time. Movement needs be performed smooth and fluidly with precision and control. Improvements occur by gradually and periodically increasing the challenge of moving with ever more difficult and complex actions. This is good for the brain and nervous system as much as it is for the waistline. Diet, the practice and habit of consuming foods in order to meet our nutritional needs, necessary to support our bodies function and energy requirements on an ongoing daily basis. Without adequate nutrition, not calories and "macros" our system will begin loosing much of its resiliency to recovery form exercise and daily stress. On the other hand a well fueled Warrior will be fit to handle what ever life throws at them. Oddly enough, much like a good nutrition regime, a good attitude can make or break the entire endeavor. The Attitude of a Warrior is not one of arrogance but one of resolute conviction that if consistent effort is put into to play then today or tomorrow a result will be achieved. The attitude of perseverance is a very useful one. If you set your sights on a destination and persist in take one step after another it is an inevitable fact that if you have not quit and continued to make steps toward your goal you will arrive. No matter how far the Journey it can only be accomplished one step at a time. A worldwide study was conducted years ago and as a finding the healthiest an longest lived humans all shared one attitude, that of conscientiousness. Being mindful of how your choices affect the context in which you live, both to one’s self and one’s community have a radically beneficial impact on the wellbeing of the individual.
