Looking for a super simple DHTML "shopping cart" / data management tool
Need a very simple low usage "shopping assistant" HTML page for digital goods website.
First the info about available goods/files should be stored.
Tab delimited text file would be enough for easy modification. Or more advanced version with MySQL with admin page to show all, search show some, add/edit/hide/delete items.
It should continue at least following fields.
Unique_ID - can be as sequential number, or few letter long acronym from the items name. (For example: Coca-Cola > "CC", Coca-Cola Light > "CCL", Pepsi Max > "PM", etc.)
Name - something that would be shown to the user (one line of text)
Size - in GB (if items size is under 1Gb, it would be shown/stored as 0.25Gb or 0.765Gb)
Price - cannot be negative. can be 0 or any value with 2 decimal digits, [login to view URL], [login to view URL], [login to view URL], etc.
Category - specific pre-set value. Can be internally only value few letter acronym.
This list would have few hundred entries. Some being removed and some added probably few times a month.
Then the second file / DB should be about storage destinations.
Would not be needed to modify often.
Could the standard storage sizes
Storage_ID - can be as sequential number, or few letter long acronym to describe the item (CD, DVD, BR, 1GbHDD, 1gbSSD, 5GgHDD, etc.)
Name - To display to the user.
Size - Size of the storage medium in GB (so a DVD would be 4.7 (Gb), 1Tb HDD would be 1024, etc)
Price - no need for negative numbers or "cents" ... good old fashoioned full number is enough.
This would have probaby have only up do ten entries.
The main thing would be a simple web page that displays a table of items from the items list.
Table should contain following:
check-box for "i want this"
Name,
Size,
Price,
Category.
In the end of the table should be 2 lines.
Available:
Number of items
Total Price
Total Size
Selected:
Number of items
Total Price
Total Size
Before and after the table, (or only on the top if that is still visible if user scrolls down) should be checkbox buttons to show/hide items based on their category (so one could link for example to the page as: [login to view URL] and only show items in ABC category)
When user clicks on the "I want this" checkbox next to single item and adds it, the "total Price" and "total Size" numbers should be updated on the page. When customer clicks again, to remove it, again the total Price/Size should be updated.
Based of the amount of items selected, page should show possble storage destinations. Lets say if user selects 1,1 Tb worth of items, page should not show smaller media like 1TbHDD, only bigger ones... like 2TbHDD, 3TbHDD, 12TbHDD, ...) If user deselects enough items to fall under 1Tb, that smaller destination HDD should be shown again.
When customer is happy with the selection, there should be order button. No need for fancy online payment links. It is enough if the page is able to email the order both to admins email address, and the customer emails address.
Admin will then verify the order and if it is ok, then they will manually email customer email and link for payment if they wish to proceed. If there are questions or suggestions, then they continue emailing until OK for ordering.
Hi sir I read ur requirement I will develop admin panel for you and will develop front table as u asked and I will add that order will email to admin and admin can view order on admin panel also.. but why u used DHTML shopping cart? This is possible with HTML and PHP also.
hi,
i have previous experience with webdev (HTML+JS) and some with PHP.
also, simple and low footprint (deemed by some as ugly for some reason...) websites are what i appreciate the most.
