Fix website, very slow and often ERROR 503 - Service Unavailable!, Phpprobid version 8 script

My site pages are too slow. Not sure what the problem is. I am using phpprobid script version 8. It is a classified ads site with about 36K sample items to test. The script is in a 16GB RAM dedicated server. I asked script developer and they say script should be able to handle 100% more than that. Some pages loads ok. But majority takes very long and often ERROR 503 - Service Unavailable! I am not sure what the problem is, if it is queries, database or server. I need somebody to identify the issue and propose solutions. This will be a no-cure no-pay project please only bid if you know what you are doing.
