On the fly website word counter

I want to develop an on-the-fly application that can be hosted on my website and then linked to from other sites. we have one already at [login to view URL] but it doesnt work too well on modern sites. The idea is that as a translation business, we frequently are asked for website wordcounts by people who dont really know a lot about their own website (typically it is a marketing manager or some-such person). Without FTP access and being able to download the entire site it is hard to extract text from a site to run a word count for quotation purposes. I want an application that will be able to spider a website, extract text from: meta tags body tags alt tags css files count the words (and characters) and export to a .csv or .xls file, directory structure intact. so i would end up with a listing of all absolute URLs/file names and the respective counts for each file. i want this as a widget or a google gadget type application, so I can provide the code for others to link directly to it. this needs to be able to work on .html, .xml, .php, .asp sites. possible? ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law.
