Remove AWS key requirement for Magento store

We have a vendor that is building a SFTP connection to connect to our Magento (php) store, hosted on a Ubuntu/Apache OS. They do not have the capability to use the private/public key pair that Amazon AWS encourages, and needs instead only to use password and userID as a login method. Can someone help adjust our AWS instance to allow for userID + password access. Thanks.

I run all of my servers on AWS using password authentication which is the change that you need to make. All of my servers are running Ubuntu as well. I know exactly what needs to be done to get this working for you. Thanks, -Dave
