Hello, I am an Android developer with 7+ years of experience. It sounds to me like there are multiple choices to your task: 1) If the items are displayed through an API call and the API supports a search then the search should be done through it 2) If the items are displayed from local storage than the search should be added to that. 3) Assuming that the items are already displayed, then search can be added on the existing visible items.
