sql server 2008 insert and update statements

i need some sort of a SQL insert statement to insert rows. i have 2 databases. ATLAS and ADVNET.
the table that i need to insert into is ADVNET.dbo.jnl_itemattribute and this table has 4 columns
-ItemId (PK, uniqueidentifier) this references over to the other database at : [url removed, login to view]
-WebTitle (varchar(max),null)
-WebSEOUrl (varchar(2000),null)
-WebProductPrice(decimal18,8),null)
The table that i need to insert from is [url removed, login to view]
the problem is that i do not have the ItemId in the source table. I only have the ItemNumber, which is in a column in [url removed, login to view]
If i were to run this SQL statement, it would show the cross reference:
select ItemId,itemnumber from item where itemnumber = 'DES 09100'
the source column ItemNumber shows the DES 09100
So either we somehow insert all of the ItemIds into the source table [url removed, login to view] OR you design a SQL statement that can cross reference the ItemNumber to the ItemId and then return that as a value.
also, the source table of ADVNET.dbo.import has many rows. i would like the sql statement to capture all of the rows in ADVNET.dbo.import and insert them into the ADVNET.dbo.jnl_itemattribute, BUT with grabbing the ItemId from ATLAS.dbo.item

Can u tell me is itemNumber is unique for each item in database? If Item number is unique then we can create item id and save it in table?
