Help me figure out how to reference a variable my JavaScript object/dictionary

This is a really simple problem, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have a JavaScript object/dictionary which I can reference with [login to view URL](current_questions). However that object contains several keys, and when I try to access the value at that key with [login to view URL](current_questions[0]) for example, the object is undefined.
I need someone to help me figure out the very simple mistake I must be making.
