Create Google Script That Can Edit Protected Cells in Google Sheets

I want to be able to create a google script that can edit protected cells in google sheets. The use case is that i want users to only be able to edit a spreadsheet through a google script and not mess with the actual spreadsheet. The problem is that the script runs through the permissions of the user. I therefore need to be able to create a script in some other way that would run as the owner of the spreadsheet. Many forums online talk about publishing a script though a webapp and then calling that web app. In addition others talked about using an API key or Oauth to do this. The final output of the project should be a google sheets document that has protected cells that then can be edited though a google script that is called on a button click. Its that simple and could take someone just a few minutes if they are familiar with this problem. I will then take the spreadsheet and adapt the methodology into my larger project.
