"Marcus Santana and the Quest to Unite Us" needs an illustrator to design a book cover for a YA adventure novel that takes place during the Constitutional Convention of 1787.

I'm the author of a new time-travel novel which I'm planning to self-publish. I'm looking for an artist to illustrate the cover of the novel with an action scene from the book. The following is a description of the novel: A worm-hole has just pulled 17 year-old Marcus Santana out of his present-day home and into Benjamin Franklin's 18th century cellar. For Marcus, the date is now May 25, 1787, the first day of the Constitutional Convention. Franklin has no idea how to send Marcus back to 2019, but he needs an assistant (clerk) and Marcus has the skills. Accompanying Franklin to the convention, Marcus finds himself in the company of "Founding Fathers" such as George Washington, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton as they debate how to form a new government to unite the country and whether to abolish slavery. Marcus also falls in love with Franklin's cook Elise, an escaped slave from Haiti. When she is abducted aboard a slave ship, Marcus risks his life to save her. During that rescue, he overhears whisperings about a secret conspiracy. Over the next few weeks, he learns there is a plot to fire-bomb the convention and destroy the Constitution and all its authors, a plot which Marcus and Franklin must race to prevent via the first hot air balloon to take flight over America. I'm looking for someone to draw a single illustration of any one of a number of scenes from the book and then design a cover for the print and also the e-book edition. The cover should be fun and adventurous and promise the reader an entertaining experience. It also has to be eye-catching both on bookstore shelves and websites and for e-readers (both color and B&W). Ideally, your illustration will include an 80 year-old Benjamin Franklin and a 17 year-old Marcus Santana, the dark-haired, good-looking, somewhat clumsy, but whip-smart grandson of Spanish and Cuban immigrants. I’m planning to publish this via Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing, which means that the cover will have to be in JPEG format in order to be upload-able. I’m attaching a file containing descriptions of several scenes from the novel. Of course, if you want to read the novel and come up with an idea for an illustration on your own, that’s fine too. I’m also including several covers that indicate the type of thing I’m considering. The most important thing to note is that they all depict characters in action.
