Develop a simple iPad based Point of Sale System

I want to develop a database application that will interface with my DOS based inventory application. The database application will be a simple Point of Sale (POS) device which will result in the printing of a simple POS receipt. Data entered into the iPad application will be validated against data provided by the DOS based app. So an import feature will be required. No credit card processing is necessary. Multiple iPads will be used so there must be a consolidation feature available. Also the ability to edit receipts after they have been printed. More detail is available and a full feature list must be agreed upon before final development.
