Hi y'all,
So chromecasts natively have a feature where when they are able to turn on TVs that they are attached to even when the TVs are off (assuming the TVs are CEC compatible)
I'd like a chrome extension where I can set a time and have it turn on certain chromecasts in my house at a certain time. The intention is to have the TVs turn on and display the main splash screen.
So you'd need:
A) A way for the extension to scan for all available chromecasts on the WiFi network the computer is on that is using this extension, and then display that to the user so that he/she can choose which chromecasts to turn on.
B) An interface to determine what time / which days to turn the chromecasts on. Ideally this would give the users Monday - Sunday as options, with the ability to choose a different time for each day. Users would need to be able to edit this afterwards as well.
C) The actual ability itself for the chrome extension to use CEC to turn on the chromecast and then sit on the splash screen.
So I guess here's what I'm thinking the user experience would look like. Let's pretend I'm an end user.
I would open this chrome extension, it would display all the chromecasts available on the WiFi network that my computer is on. Let's say there are 3 of them, A, B, and C. I want to turn on the TV attached to chromecast A Monday Through Friday at 6:20 AM every week (but NOT Saturday or Sunday).
So the interface would then show me that there are three chromecasts available on the WiFi. I would select Chromecast A, and then a menu would display allowing me to define that I want to turn on my TV at 6:20 AM Monday Through Friday, and then at 9:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday.
I would input similar parameters for Chromecast B and C afterwards as separate "alarms".
Hopefully that makes sense? Let me know if you have questions.
