Background:
The company offers an end-to-end content creation platform to businesses looking to grow online. A key component of the service is content curation which relies on proprietary scraping technology.
We’re looking for attentive and methodical freelancers to help us check that the content displayed on our web-app is in good shape. Our unique platform extracts news articles from publications around the world and displays them to our users.
Sometimes there can be technical issues that prevent this from happening in the way we would like it to. We have built an internal platform to help flag when things go wrong and are looking for some help reviewing sources of content. The task includes completing a specified checklist which will then allow our engineers and technology to update our scraping system in order to fix these broken sources.
What you will be doing:
- Logging into the tool and reviewing content sources one-by-one, determining the health of our scraping technology for each source by completing a specified checklist
- Checking the news website or third-party blog and seeing if the URL we have for it is still valid
- Comparing our platform newsfeed and the news website to see if our platform is showing the latest articles from that website

- Checking if we have any duplicated articles from the website in our platform
- Verifying if we have extracted the article text, images and title correctly in our platform
Requirements:
- Attention to details - we have ways of verifying all checks to ensure that the checklist has been filled out accurately
- Good level of written and spoken English - we may need to have you join calls or send over written feedback to our engineers on the tools you are using
- Reliable
- Familiar with RSS feeds
Note: this is for an initial small batch of data (~20 sources) to review. Upon reviewal, there will be opportunities to work on a regular basis if the results are conclusive.
