Hi,
I have worked with a lot of companies working as a financial advisor and as an auditor. Although, not directly part of my work as a finance professional, I usually try to inquire my client's top management any reason behind their use of their company name as it does give some insights about their company: their products and services, their value, their vision, etc.
Some common reasons for the use of their company name are:
a. Actual product and/or services;
b. Corporate values, mission or vision; and
c. Image they want to be recognized at.
d. company origin/history;
e. name of their founder/s;
f. place of incorporation; and
g. period (e.g., season, holiday, etc) of incorporation.
In this regard, my proposed approach to have a company name that is personal and matters to you are:
a. Brainstorm on your reasons;
b. If possible, select at least 2 or 3 potential company names resulting from our discussion to ensure ;
c. Check these potential company names against the global listing of intelectual property (IP) rights and patents to ensure no other company use such names; and
d. With your lawyers, submit IP and patents application to relevant authorities to secure your right of use of your selected company name, pending your company logo design. (Out of my scope.)
Hope you like this approach and I hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Dennis Hernandez
