Implementing UVC Camera for current HD Barcode Android Project

At first, I am wanting to improve current android app. It is to be able to also directly source a UVC camera like the one shown in the youtube video to at least an Android camera. Currently, we have to take a snapshot and go to a file on the phone to poll the data. If you can see the "Youtube" it is an example of the microscopic camera capturing an image. This is youtube url [login to view URL] You could do to change our app to accept a UVC camera. we are using the original android camera api. google was pushing camera2 for a long time, but I found that very few apps used it. it now looks like there is a camera3 api. I had heard rumors that a future version of the Camera API would support UVC cameras seamlessly. Until they do, we would need a way to detect and collect an image from a UVC camera. What I have now is a kludge. You run someone else's UVC camera app which saves an image in a folder (I think "UVC Camera"). Then our program has a button which can read and decode that image. It would be great if we could do this without using someone else's app, but the function calls to access the UVC camera are completely different. You can diff the 5.0 and 5.3 versions of the Java code and you will see not all that much is different. The source code for 5.0 should be an excellent starting point -- especially if you substitute the 5.3 Java file. I hope I have explained what we need well enough for you to get started.
