Paris s'éveille !
Dear project manager,
I feel fairly qualified for the position you are offering.
I am a translator based in Bordeaux, France. I am a very meticulous language professional. I regularly proofread, coordinate, and train a small team of translators for subtitling projects. I am used to proofreading, and spot errors, whether they are grammatical, context-related errors, or typos. I am used to check source language accuracy as well. My main tool for translation "judgments" is common sense.
English is not my first language. However I can guarantee correct and accurate writing in my native language with a very good understanding of English. I have a high level of English, which I improved by living in the UK for 4 years. I am passionate about languages and all the alternatives they offer. I am used to American English through medias and cinema, as well as through litterature and linguistics studies (with courses on cultural challenges in translating subtitles), and various translation projects with American English as source language variant. I can give you references in the US, with a Professor who needed translations for her talks in universities abroad, in French speaking countries. (Susan C. Solomon ). Regarding the topic, I feel confident as I am used to read about this topic, like most women and men ! I am familiar with the range of programs/ tips/ behaviours that are often stated in websites, magazines, and blogs.
