I'd like to develop a website for Still Image Sharing that functions like YouTube. That means images should be displayed via a player that can be embedded in a variety of sites just by using the url or a simple embed code. See [login to view URL] for an example of this. As well as Google Maps. Image "player" should function similarly, allowing zooming and panning of images. See Facebook's image viewer for example of how to connect single photo to comments, "liking", shifting between previous and next image, as well as gallery/albums. Main site will include categories as well as "channels" where viewers can subscribe and users can favorite and organize their images. Supported image formats will include all standard formats as well as animated gifs, bitmaps, pngs, and swfs. Player must include the ability to support banner ads (just like YouTube). And player must be able to be viewed inside Facebook, just like YouTube's player. Non-negotiable there. See the attached video. This is the functionality I imagine. The app described in the video is essential. On the website itself, imagine the front page of Youtube, but with more images, thumbnails, an entire grid of images (see link: [login to view URL]). Users will also have their own channel/galleries. So it will be something like [login to view URL] (see [login to view URL]). That will include favorited images, uploads, list of subscribers/followers, and private messaging. Users will be able to follow/subscribe to each other, leave public comments, and "like" images. A view counter is essential. Must allow for animated gifs (and swfs if possible). Also, the image sharing site would need to be integrated onto an existing site - [login to view URL] I would need to see jpg thumbnails of the new design before moving onto programming.
