Database Schema Synchronization

Develop a VB6 program that uses as input a? MS-Access 97 database as a master schema to create tables? having the same schema or updating existing tables? in? an SQL Database.? The VB6 program should be capable of? operating? with either an? MS SQL Server database or a MySQL database and thus must be ANSI SQL compliant.? All table create or alter operations are to be performed through VB6 code using DAO over ODBC.? Stored procedures are not to be used. ## Deliverables The purpose of this program is to allow multiple identical MySQL and MS-SQL Server databases that are deployed in different locations to have their schemas (tables and fields) updated to match a master MS-Access 97 database such that the synchronization is done without having to incur a sgnificant database adminstration effort.? A copy of the program will be colocated on the same computer as? each MySQL and MS-SQL Server database and when their schema needs to be updated, the MS-Access 97 database is provided to each site.? When run, the program will synchronize the? MySQL/SQL Server database to the MS-Access 97 database.? The synchronization program will only need to add new columns (fields)? to existing tables and add new tables to the MySQL and the MS-SQL Server databases.? Removing tables and columns (fields) is not needed.? Existing columns (fields) will never change data types.? If a data type or data type property (e.g. varchar length)? does not match an error is to be identified. The synchronization program needs to report any error that it comes across, either through a multi line text box, a file or both. Along with this program two other separate small VB6 programs are to be provided.? These will be sample programs.? The purpose of these two sample programs is to demonstrate the ability to read the rows from one of the tables in the? MySQL and MS-SQL Server databases using DAO and ODBC.? One of the small programs will be used to connect to a MySQL database and the other small program will be used to connect to a MS-SQL Server database.? The intent of these two small programs is to define the connection string for the DAO/ODBC database connection and the means to access the rows in a table.? All information pertaining to the setup of the ODBC connection for both MySQL and SQL Server is to be provided.? The reason for these two sample programs is that they will act as a template of how to read/write rows in a MySQL and MS-SQL Server database table through VB6, DAO and ODBC.? This template will be used as a guideline to make modifications to an existing Enterprise based program that is written in VB6 and uses DAO to interact with a MS-Access 97 database.? The MS-Access 97 database is nearing capacity which is the reason for migrating to MySQL and MS-SQL Server. Visual Basic 6, DAO and ODBC must be used to interact with the MySQL database and the MS-SQL Server database.? DAO and Jet are to be used to access the MS-Access 97 database.
