Copy and rename file sequentially if not a duplicate file name.

I need to rename files from a specific directory sequentially.

Here is what I need and I'll let you figure out the best way to handle it.

I download files (presently 2-4 files per week) to a specific local directory. An example format of the downloaded file would be c:\win\ansi835\pbsreg_20071227.835. I need the downloaded files in that directory renamed to ERA#####.DAT where ##### is a sequential number. You will need to track the sequential number. I'd also like for your program to verify that [url removed, login to view] has not previously been changed to ERA#####.DAT. If [url removed, login to view] had all ready been changed previously, then a prompt asking if I would like to add it again would be needed.

I then connect to another computer via terminal services and upload these ERA#####.DAT files to a specific directory (d:\ezbis\clinic1\era\)

So I'd like your thoughts on the best way to accomplish this.

One thought would be to install your solution on the terminal services host(server). I would download the files to the local computer and then connect to the terminal services host, run your program which would look for files in [\\tsclient\c\win\ansi835\][1] and copy them to the new location on the host (server). Your solution could then do the checks and renaming at that point? Anyway, feel free to think outside the box and let me know.

I'm not the best at explaining, so please don't hesitate to ask questions. Thanks, Steve

Oh yea, these files are typically under 150k in size and I would prefer it written in VB but thats is not a requirement.
