The output of this project is a tab-delimited text file (suitable for importing into Excel) containing share price data for all publicly traded stocks that have had recent IPO's (initial public offerings). A template for the output is attached in Excel format, though your output should be tab-delimited text. How you build this database is up to you: it could be constructed from an available share price / company statistics database, or scraped off of publicly available historical stock price data on a website, or otherwise. The output should include: - All companies that have gone public since 1/1/1999. - A complete history of share prices for each one of those companies, from the first day of trading to the present. - Data formatted as a flat file with a header row of labels at top - The following columns: 1) Company name; 2) Ticker symbol; 3) IPO date; 4) Trading date; 5) Day number; 6) High share price on the trading date; 7) Low share price on the trading date; 8) Closing share price on the trading date; 9) Volume of shares traded; 10) Shares outstanding as of the trading date (see below); 11) Indication of any splits and the split ratio. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as .exe or other executable files that require nothing other than Microsoft Office or files distributed with the deliverables to run. 3) Also in your deliverables, you must include the output text data file itself, i.e. the results of running the program, with all data complete through at least 11/8/04. Notes: - All fractional values should be expressed as decimal equivalents (i.e. 56 5/8 should be shown as 56.625) - Day number should indicate "1" for the day the stock began trading (IPO date), "2" for the following calendar day, "3" for the following calendar day, and so on. This means that if a stock debuted on a Wednesday, then the first entries would be numbered 1, 2, 3, 6 (i.e. no 4 and 5 because they were weekend (non-trading) days. - All share price data should be on an adjusted basis -- i.e. adjusted as appropriate for any splits that occured subsequent to the trading date so the "per share" basis will be equivalent to the present "per share" - Would prefer shares outstanding to be a historical value as of the trading date, but if it is not available historically, then a present value is ok. - It is ok to semi-hard-code the list of stocks that the program goes after, i.e. to demand as input to the program a table of stock tickers and ipo dates. However, as part of the deliverable, you must pre-populate such an input with a complete set of all stocks that IPO'd on or after 1/1/99. Please note that the data sources for this are up to the programmer to identify: no other info will be provided other than this spec. ## Platform Windows 2000.
