Automated Courier Services for Hand Held Devices

The aim of this project is to automate the courier services by providing the facility of placing orders through the latest communication channels like cell phones and other wireless devices. The system will provide business benefits to the courier company along with an ease of use for the customers by enabling them to order the deliveries using the hand held devices, web based interface or through email. The system should also offer and enable the monitoring of the shipment by informing the customer of all events starting from pick up address up to delivery. It should also enable the users to choose the frequency of notifications on the path of the shipment to be able to remain fully aware of the state of shipment. The very basic functional requirements of this project are as follows. • Place an order at the local office. • Place an order through SMS. • Place an order by making a call. • Place an order through e-mail. • Provide automatic billing. • Generate receipt of order. • The company has agents to provide the pick up service of the packages to the customers. The system should keep a track of all these agents. • Search for a suitable agent. • Provide the facility of package tracking. Coders with good rantings will be preffered.
