I own a small company that moves crews employed by my company into automotive dealership make ready departments. Make ready dept is the wash, vacuum, and detail facility of a dealership. We have as many as 70 vehicles a day that come through. I have to log each on on paper by the last 8 of the VIN(Stock Numbers). We have an agreement with dealers to charge them one price typically taking place when unit first arrives at dealer. The subsequent washes(Showroom, Demo, Freshen Up, Bodyshop, Service Customer) are of varying charges, except for the delivery wash. The delivery wash is a zero charge if w did the initial prep service.
I need a type of database that will allow me to type the stock number into a field and go to a history screen for that unit that displays year, model, and color, mileage, describing service performed, charges applied, wash tech's name, sortable on that screen by dates. whether we have a ticket for that unit, and if technician submitted a checklist. Also would like an area for an notes needed. Of course, I am saying I will b entering the information manually, but would like a few opportunities to use an auto fill feature (say a price automatically fill in when a service matching that price is typed in.
## Deliverables
Hopefully described most of info earlier. Except to give you an idea of how I do it now. lol. I use excel with sortables at the top of the columns. Have over 5000 entries for one dealer and have to go through all of them so as to make sure not to double charge. I type stock numbers in, highlight the cells in yellow, then sort by stock number. just scroll till I see yellow, lol. then search on each side of that cell to see if either stock number matches it.
