An IT professional had previously configured an Amazon AWS EC2 instance for a previous project. This previous project was built on the Magento platform. They had installed and configured the following:
- NginX
- Fast CGI
- Xcache
- Fooman Speedster (Magento extension to minify and cache javascript and css files)
I launched the AMI with this configuration pre-installed and removed the existing application from /var/www/, then uploaded the new project files for the new application we want to have working on this similar configuration. The site was not loading, so I removed NginX and it's configuration files and restored it back to Apache. The site was still loading just blank pages, but we realized that it was due to the location of the javascript files. I moved all the javascript and css files to the root director /var/www/ and it is now loading the login page and administrator page for the application. However, some pages say the url is not found. This may be due to the way Fooman Speedster was configured on this EC2 instance (may not allow certain words like "javascript" or "user" in the URL).
I have also tried to load the application onto a freshly launched EC2 instance with the following stack (Ubuntu + Apache + Xcache). It is loading the phpinfo file I created, but is showing just a blank white page again when trying to load the url for the application.
Our optimal solution may be just to launch a fresh EC2 instance and install the same configuration (Ubuntu + NginX + FastCGI + Xcache + JS and CSS minify solution).
Hello, I have worked with various CMS platforms and the AWS EC2 service. I have also worked with similar configurations as mentioned by you. I believe I can totally help you out with debugging your setup.
