Cab tracking and booking android app

Hi ,

We are starting a radio cab service and would like to use android based phones for fleet tracking , booking and navigation purposes instead of using dedicated GPS devices .

For this we need an android app which is capable of logging the tracking data to a server and is able to receive booking requests from the server and send back confirmations .

A description of the cab booking process is as below :

A cab booking request is made at the call center . The location of the user is noted down and all available cabs in the vicinity of the user are notified about the booking request . The cab driver then responds to the booking request . The first driver to respond receives a confirmation for the pickup .

We plan to use a php/mysql based database system to keep the tracking data and the booking log .

We will be hosting the project initially on Amazon EC2 using the free tier for testing purposes . We will use reverse geocoding service from google and open street map .

I myself know basics of android programming and have tested out some parts by writing out small snippets .

I would like to get a cost estimate for the app and the logging and booking engine and a timeline for the amount of time it would take to develop.

We need the system to be robust , as in it should be able to handle tracking and processing booking requests without loss of tracking data .
