The Category Grid chooser will be a graphical way of displaying Ebay categories in a hierarchical fashion. There will be a top level row in a 7x7 grid which displays the top level root categories (highlighted in yellow in the figure below). From there a category will be selected by the user.

The cell size in pixels will be configurable through a system setting. The grid will be 7x7 by default, but will also be able to be changed to 8x8 grid size through system setting.

The categories will be retrieved from a servlet which outputs the categories in an XML format. The output XML format will be retrived from a database table. the servlet will be called from JavaScript in a one time call to the database and stored in memory so that the user can navigate the grid without having to make calls to the database.
