This is a pilot project to find a solution to approximate hand drawn characters' shapes with vector-based curves.
Another words, I have a set of hand drawn numbers from 1 to 9 (saved as GIF files, TIFs are available). For every combination of numbers, and for this PILOT project there is only 8 combinations: 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9 there are 3 intermediate shapes drawn by hand as well. See the sample combination 1->2 above.
FIRST OF ALL
I am looking for the ways/methods that the uneven lines of the hand drawings could be replaced by smooth and even shapes. Maybe, it could be done in Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Flash or some other vector based application... I shall be able to export/save these vector-based shapes into a GIF format.
SECONDLY I want to use these vector based shapes to create more intermediate shapes, based on the existng ones. If I have 3 intermediate shapes (between every 2 numbers), for example (1->A->B->C->2), by stretching the vector shapes, I shall be able to create 4 additional ones (1->A'->A->B'->B->C'->C->D'->2) - preferrably - generated automatically.
This is ONLY a pilot project. A coder that successfully implements a solution for 1) and 2) will get a first shot at a project that includes approximately 3600 hand drawn combinations with 4 intermediate shapes each (similar to the samples in the pilot project).
## Deliverables
1) Intermediate shapes in vector form that could be scaled/morphed by using one of the commercial graphical software.
2) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law.
