Cocoa custom control for editing video

I would like a custom control for video editing, similar to what QuickTime Pro offers. Ideally, this custom control would be derived from/integrated with QTMovieView, and would allow the user to mark a selection of the video, and (programmatically) return the start and stop times of the selection. (I've attached a screenshot of QuickTime Pro, with a selection marked.) The resulting control doesn't have to look exactly like QuickTime Pro's editing control - it could be a scroll bar with two "thumbs", or something fancier. It simply has to allow for the marking of a start/end/selection of the QTMovieView's movie. Thank you!
