Objectives The aim of this project is to build a multiple server simulation of a queuing system such that one can derive the average queue length given an average inter-arrival rate and service rate. Preliminaries Real life is full of occurrences of queuing systems. These systems are characterized in one of its simpler forms by a single queue whereby customers arrive at random times at the end of the queue. Subsequently customers are removed from the front of the queue and are serviced by available servers. Each server will take a random amount of time to service each customer, after which is becomes free to service another customer. Such systems are found in banks, fast-food service points, supermarkets, etc. A corporation that has a queuing system would be interested to find the average queue length to be able to provision enough space for the accommodation of the queue and also to limit the queue size since a large size deters new customers. A whole mathematical theory exists (queuing theory) which is able to predict accurately the size of the queue. Queuing theory produces results mainly on the nature of the inter-arrival time, which is the time between one customer arriving at the end of the queue and the next customer arrival, and the service time, which is the time between the beginning of service of one customer and the next. Note that this theory states that an average service time smaller than the average inter-arrival time produces a fixed average queue length while an average inter-arrival time smaller than the average service time will produce an unlimited queue size. This theory is nowadays also applied to the construction of traffic lights in junctions and to model the expected buffer size in network traffic. Implementation Without applying the above-mentioned mathematical theory, it is possible to simulate a queuing system using computers. Thus you are asked to build such a system to derive an average queue length for the given param
