We require the development of some administrative shell scripts and maybe system (C or C++) programs for the UNIX environment, specifically Red Hat Linux. We prefer bash for administrative shell scripts.
1. We have a system application that launches an important server process. We need an application or shell script to monitor this process and restart it if it goes down because of a crash.
2. We need an init script for inclusion into init.d that will allow the system to start and stop our server process as a service during operating system boot and shut down. This script should start our service via the monitoring process established in #1. Also the PID will probably need to be stored in /var/lock/subsys or similar for shut down.
3. We need a backup shell script that will be run periodically by cron. This script should back up the running mySQL database, possibly using mysqldump. It will also need to backup the directory pattern we will specify. The backup destination can be a tar archive. The archive should be compressed an encrypted with PGP, and then e-mailed to a user defined mail address. The archive should then be removed.
4. We need an iptables (software firewall) configuration that will deny access to any service other than ssh and our web server. However, it should allow outbound email (smtp port 25) and http requests.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
