Evaluate existing chilled water system and determine if system is capable of supporting additional chilled water supply

and return lines to 24 new locations. Fully develop engineering plans and cost estimate to install the chilled water supply.

At a minimum this assignment will require one full day at the facility to include site tour (Lake Charles, LA), review of project requirements,

and development of detailed project timetable. Candidates of merit will be asked to present examples of their work as

part of a WebEx during the pre-award intereview. Project Budget will be determined after review of credentials and offers.

The scope of this project consists of three phases:

1. Evaluate the current chilled water system to determine if the system is capable of supporting the addition of chilled water supply and return lines to the packing glands on each end of twelve (12) autoclaves. This phase will require, at a minimum, one full day at the facility to include site tour, review of project requirements, and development of detailed project timetable.

2. Fully develop engineering plans and cost estimate to install a chilled water supply and return line to the packing glands on each end of three (3) of the six (6) autoclaves in the Poly-One building utilizing the existing chilled water system.

3. Prepare preliminary engineering requirements and estimated cost to continue the chilled water supply and return line installation of a supply to the packing glands on each end of the remaining three (3) autoclaves in the Poly-One building utilizing the existing chilled water system.

Discussion:

The engineer assigned to this project will review the existing chilled water system and confirm that the existing chilled water system will support the additional load required to support a twelve (12) autoclave project. The existing system supplies chilled water to the initiator nozzles at each of the autoclaves. The system consists of three (3) chillers, one (1) pump for each chiller, a single supply and return loop. The system has minimal instrumentation. When operating the plant at full capacity using nine (9) autoclaves, two (2) chillers are utilized at full capacity and the third chiller acts to supplement as required. Future expansion plans would include an additional three (3) autoclaves for a total of twelve (12) requiring chilled water application. The future expansion should be considered in the evaluation.

Currently, one (1) chiller is utilized at full capacity while operating the six (6) autoclaves in the Poly-One building. The second chiller is utilized as needed to support the single chiller when the primary chiller’s capacity is exceeded. The third chiller is idle 100% of the time under the current production demand. The new supply and return will be required to have instrumentation to monitor supply and return temperature and flow for each connection and should be included in the engineering design and cost estimates.

Depending on current internal resource availability and the results of the engineering studies noted above, the Scope of Work

may be expanded to include the following:

• Identification and evaluation of candidate installation firms

• Preparation of Request of Quotation, and their review

• Installation supervision and support

Attached is the standard contract form to be used for this assignment.
