I want to solve the problem of figuring out what lengths of stock material to buy to produce the least waste. Say you are getting 2x4s for your next project from your local homedepot and you need to cut them into a bunch of weird sizes. You don't know which combination of stock 2x4s to get to best utilize your cuts to produce the least waist. Attached is a pdf of an algorithm that I believe would solve the problem but I need someone to translate that into computer language. I would like it to be a web based form where you can input stock lengths, desired piece length and #, and it would output a table that would tell how many of what stock material to buy and where the cuts should go.

Hi: I have a masters degree in Engineering. Before I provide you a detailed proposal. I have a clarification. Do you just want to apply that paper in to programming or do you have a real life problem where you intend to apply that. Please note that cutting stock problem is one-dimensional problem, i.e. it will only tell you about only one of the three dimensions. Please connect with me to discuss more.
