Design a type-based icon to be embroidered on a baseball hat

I need graphic design for an icon on a baseball hat. The hat will be embroidered with a two-letter icon. There will be dozens of different icons. All will use the same look. For now we’re just designing one icon, at least five different ways. I need a designer with strong typography skills, good taste and the ability to design with a sense of understated fun and coolness. I need someone who gets it. These hats need to appeal to smart people. I want simplicity in the design, but also impact and personality. The rate for this job includes discussing the details with me, looking at a visual reference that I’ll give you and then designing one icon, showing me five different ways to approach it. We won’t go back and forth and collaborate at this point. If I hire you, I'll brief you, you'll do five versions, and that's it. The collaboration will come later and we will negotiate the money for that as we go. There are dozens and dozens of these icons to create once we establish a look, and other elements of the hats that will need to be designed. Relevant portfolio pieces and the ability to work quickly enough for one and two day turnarounds after feedback will give you an advantage in being hired.
