Design a Logo for a Cake Making Business

We need a logo designing for a client with a cake business. They make occasion cakes, such as wedding cakes.
The name of the business is 2nd Slice. Note that it is definitely '2nd' and not 'Second'.
The logo has to appeal to a wide audience, nothing too "baby-ish" with lots of curly writing.
It should be a simple and elegant design.
It needs to be reversible for white or black background and should be either monochromatic or a very neutral colour palette - no baby blue or pink please.
Modern calligraphy and script is great, but not the old 'curly' fonts you get in something like Microsoft Word.
