If you are correct and viruses were present then there is only so many ways in with wordpress did you have an old wordpress installed?,did you leave the login pag as wp-admin?, was anything uploaded by anyone else not scrutinised and was your cp panel and FTP secure?. please message me. Also would it be possible that a group of tech savvy people had something against you? it sounds targeted.
