This week you will be building your website's homepage index.html. **You will be building the supporting pages next week, so just work on your main [url removed, login to view] page this week.
This is your chance to make a great first impression to all Internet surfers. Make your home page simple to use. Furnish it with great pertinent images and content, but don't attempt to offer all the content on the home page. Use the home page as a map linking to all your other pages. Multiple pages are much easier to surf than one big page that offers too much information. Always use navigation back to your home page.
Week Nine Project Resources (File attached):
Week Nine Project Resources - help to explain meta tags, learn about SEO, how to insert your favicon link in your [url removed, login to view] page, and some short code examples (snippets) to help with your page layout and site menu.
There are so many videos on the internet that will answer your questions regarding website creation, some will even help you build your site step-by-step. Below are just a couple of simple videos that I found on how to use DIV tags and CSS to help you to create your homepage:
How to use DIV Tags and CSS to Create Advanced Website Layouts and CSS Menus - Dreamweaver Tutorial (You can skip the creation of the [url removed, login to view] file on the video because you should already have an existing [url removed, login to view] page you created last week) You do not have to use this video's method of creating a menu navigation bar. Instead, you can create a navigation bar using a spry menu from the textbook (page 5-16) OR Week Nine Project Resources (attached) OR from the many examples you can find on the internet, including [url removed, login to view] OR from the video tutorial below, Dreamweaver CS6 - Easy CSS Navigation Menu.
Here is a Dreamweaver CS6 - Easy CSS Navigation Menu that will help you to create a nice menu. .
