Batch re-name files
$25-50 AUD / hour
Hi - we are a music, book, film and fashion distribution group with retail outlets and a website.
We need someone to write an Apple Script to rename large volumes of image files with non-conventional names, with bar-code numbers. The bar-code numbers are in an spreadsheet along with a catalog no., Artist Name and Title. The file names contain either Artist Name, Title and/or Catalog No. details. I would imagine the script could search/find either the Artist Name, Title and/or Cat No. from the spreadsheet to find the file, then replace the file info with the corresponding bar-code number.
For instance: Spreadsheet info might = Bar-code (97863457908) / Title (Shaolin Afronauts) / Cat No. (348909). Then, the file might be = Shaolin_Afronauts [url removed, login to view]
My thinking is that the script will be able to search within a designated folder for an image with either, "Shaolin" or "Afronauts", or "348909" or all of these statements using matching statements within the spreadsheet and then replace the entire file name with the new bar-code number. For example, file name might be - [url removed, login to view] (run script), file name changes to - 97863457908.jpg.
I hope this is enough information to go on. Look forward to hearing from anyone who might be able to provide a solution. The script will need to be robust enough to "hunt and peck" and replace the file names accurately as we have 1000's of images to process. I have read forums on this problem and know it can be done.
When we hear back from anyone interested in taking this on, we will supply a batch of test files and a spreadsheet for the freelancer to use to solve the problem
Many thanks,
