This asssignment is about Conducting a critical evaluation of a selection of computer forensics tools and document your findings in a report of approximately, AND NOT MORE THAN, 2500 words.
You can choose any tools you like: they can be open source or commercial, they can run on any platform(s). However, you are expected to evaluate them and this means that you need to develop a set of metrics and test against those. These need, as far as possible, to be objective.
A good test data must be produce and links will be provided to sources of suitable test images.
Marks will be this out of 100 (though note that the final weighting will be 50% of the module total) and expect to allocate the marks as follows:
You should choose 3 tools, which should be related in some way (most obviously, aim to do the same task).
For each tool, I'll give 8 marks for devising appropriate tests, and 12 for carrying them out and writing up your findings.
The remaining 40 marks will be for an overall critical appraisal of the tools you used. This need not necessarily be a separate section of the report: you could include the material within the sections dealing with your chosen tools.
